Welcome to the complimentary blog post for S1, E2.
Doesn’t it just get your panties in a wad when those persons who subscribe to the patriarchal culture dismiss women?
How many BRILLIANT women do YOU know that this has happened to?? (Your comments are welcome below.)
Not only do I call out a hateful person in this episode, but I get to talk about one of my very favorite things, sexy primate experts!
This episode was inspired, as I’m sure you all heard, by Dr. Penny Patterson and her amazing work with Koko the Gorilla. And at the same time she started her primate experiment on the west coast, Professor Herbert Terrace started his similar experiment with Nim, a chimpanzee, on the east coast.
Terrace has be dogging Penny for decades by publicly dismissing, criticizing and denouncing her work with Koko. And, whenever I have read his comments, they overtly reek with jealousy.
I am sure there are many reasons why he is jealous. But I can tell you this for sure: his experiment, that was similar to Penny’s, ended disastrously. There is a ton of bad news to read, and you can begin with this New York Times article: “An Experiment that Evolved into Tragedy”.
And, there’s even a documentary: “Project Nim”.
RIP, Nim.
Enough about that. Let me share with you some curated videos about these sexy heartbreakers, Dr. Penny Patterson and Dr. Jane Goodall.
Check out Koko meeting Mr. Rogers!
For a budding girl-on-girl romance, check out Betty White visiting Koko!
Classic Jane.
And, even though he’s extremely late to the table Penny and Jane have been sitting at for years, it’s worth giving a listen to Terry Gross’s interview with Frans de Waal on Fresh Air
I haven’t heard Herbert make a peep about Frans.
UPDATE!!! The New York Times published and interview with DR. Jane Goodall on July 13, 2021. Check it out HERE.
